At last, a new-tool kit of one of the most important aircraft used by the JASDF and US Navy. Without the Hawkeye, no one else would know where they were going or what they were heading into. Hasegawa has done the type justice, with recessed panel lines and raised surface detail where appropriate. The cockpit, landing gear and gear bays are well detailed, as is the landing light assembly in the nose. Flaps can be positioned up or down. Markings are given for four aircraft, and the antenna fit varies between some of them, so keep an eye on the instructions when building! Markings are for "456" and "452" of 601 Sq. AEW Group, and "462" and "454," both in AEW Group 20th Anniversary markings.

Nakajima J1N1-Sa Night Fighter Gekko Type 11 Kou. Made by Tamiya, 1/48 scale plastic model assembly kit Fuselage length: 263mm. Rear fuselage adapted for three guns accurately reproduced. Gun hatch can be assembled as opened or closed, allowing display of gun parts. Includes parts to produce with or without antennas. Singular exhaust stacks reproduced to perfection. When Tamiya's engineers sat down to design this kit, one marketing concern was that it was already available from other firms. How to make something that stands out? Frankly, being made by Tamiya is enough for me to make a kit stand out, but that wasn't enough for them. Enter the Kettenkraftrad! Not only do you get "bonus" parts, but the figures included let you create an instant mini-diorama (the Kettenkrad was designed by Tamiya's military model team, too). Includes markings for three different versions of this fighter/bomber.

Tamiya does it again! An all-new tooling that is guaranteed to push its precursors down to the bottom of the "to build" stack. Lots of detail, plus ease of assembly and some innovative features make this a winner. Without a doubt, one of the most innovative features is the engine pod. Metal posts pass through a wingspar (which guarantees proper dihedral) to jut out of the fuselage top. Parts are provided to build one "buttoned up" engine pod as well as one "open" engine pod, plus a complete engine and stand. Polycaps on the assemblies slide onto the metal posts to allow you to install, uninstall and reinstall either engine pod and the engine at any time. No need to lock yourself into one "look" or the other during the build, or even after you are done for that matter! A separate engine stand is also included, so the engine can be displayed alongside the aircraft if desired (the engine is removable and can be installed on the plane at any time). Markings are for four aircraft: Oberst Herbert Ihlefeld's "White 23" of JG1 (he was the commander of JG1); Oberleutnant Emil Demuth's "Yellow 11" of 3/JG1; Leutnant Rudolf Schmitt's "White 1" of 1/JG1; Leutnant Gerhard Hanf's "Red 1" of 2/JG1.

The Britsol Beaufighter was a versatile aircraft used by the Royal Air Force for a number of roles during WWII. This kit may be assembled as either a Mk.VI fighter version or a Mk.VI Coastal Command version. The short nose, thick wings, and angled horizontal stabilizers are all accurately reproduced, and the engine and cockpit are full of detail. Two crew figures and three marking options are included.
