Biante Model Cars and Apex Replicas are very pleased to present the 1:18 Scale Holden Special Vehicles W427 in Heron.
Any Australian motoring enthusiast would be familiar with the HSV nameplate. Established in 1987, the official performance arm of Holden has been producing wild, spine-tingling variants of Holden road cars for almost 30 years now. Perhaps one of the most brutal and stand out HSV's ever built though would be the incredible W427.
Unveiled by HSV at 2008 Melbourne Motor Show, after months of media and public speculation, the W427 generated an unprecedented amount of hype and excitement from the motoring public. With the 'W' proudly standing for racing legend and performance God, Tom Walkinshaw. Boasting the largest capacity engine ever built in an Australian production car, it quickly garnered everyone's attention. The massive dry-sumped 7.0 litre LS7 equalled to 427 cubic inches in the old scale and pushed out an eye watering 375kw (500 hp) and a back-straightening 640 Nm of torque! This supercar heart was enough to propel the hefty 1874 kg brute to a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 4.7 seconds, and a quarter mile of 13 seconds. At the time it was pure supercar territory numbers and left a lasting impact.
It wasn't only the engine that was impressive however. To pull up that warp speed the W427 also required an impressive set of brakes and HSV didn't skimp going with monster 380mm front discs and 6 piston calipers providing an extra 50% contact over the already impressive GTS front brakes and just as big 350mm rear discs. Revised Magnetic Ride Control, HSV 6-speed Tremec TR6060 manual transmission, high-strength LSD and 20' machined -faced alloy wheels in Billet Silver finished off the underpinnings of this world class supercar.
Although the performance aspects of the car were unrivalled, the W427 also offered a fantastic array of driver comforts and an interior that was as standout as the car's performance. A unique W427 branded red leather interior combined with all the modern amenities that HSV could possibly fit in 2008. A multi-function steering wheel, Bluetooth, optional sat nav, climate control, cruise control, rear park-assist, automatic headlamps, comprehensive trip computer, and top of the range sound system just to name a few.
A truly unique vehicle in every way ' the W427 was hand assembled at HSV's production facility in Clayton, Victoria and all of this didn't come cheap though. A retail price of $155,000 meant demand for the car was low and the intended build of 427 cars was reduced significantly to only 136, making it an instantly highly sort after classic and one of the rarest HSV's ever made!
The 1:18 Scale replica of this model is an exceptional collector's piece. First thing you notice upon inspection is its significant quality of craftsmanship. The sculptured body lines are beautifully replicated on this model given the way it has been produced with the door gaps and joins between the panels looking as realistic as possible. The model includes a number of very nice features including the W427 badge work, menacing front facia assembly along with the carbon fibre rear spoiler are presented extremely well.
No shortcuts have been taken with replicating the Red Hot leather interior of this model. Upon looking through the clear windows you can see a very high attention to detail right down to the dashboard instrumentation and W427 details. Last but not least, the Heron White colour scheme simply looks phenomenal and finishes the model superbly well.
The 1:18 Scale Gen-F W427 is a must have model for Holden and HSV fans alike. It will be produced in a limited-edition number and will come with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
